Steven Brust

Steven Karl Zoltan Brust was born November 23, 1955, to a nice Hungarian-descended family who promptly proceeded to raise him by the process of Benevolent Neglect. Later his wife Reen and their four children took over that task. Along the way he became an amateur drummer, guitarist, and banjo player, and has performed numerous shows with Cats Laughing and Morrigan. He even released his own solo record called "A Rose for Iconoclastes" containing politically incorrect folk songs.
On his literary side, Brust has written 18 novels published by Ace and Tor Books. Many of them, including his latest one, DZUR, are in the Vlad Taltos series for which he is known. Some other non-Vlad books to check out are TO REIGN IN HELL, about the revolt of the angels; THE SUN, THE MOON, AND THE STARS, an introspective look at life; and AGYAR, a decent horror novel. Brust has also been honored to co-write with some of his favorite authors. He teamed up with Megan Lindholm to form THE GYPSY and Emma Bull to pen FREEDOM AND NECESSITY.
