The ConDFW Book Swap is back again!
Be sure to bring your used books to swap for new ones. This year we will have a good selection of science fiction, fantasy and horror for you to choose from. And as always. donations are also welcome.
For this year’s charity, ConDFW will be selecting a classroom project from the www.DonorsChoose.org website. There are hundreds of teachers on the site listing various activities and learning objectives they would like to pursue with their students, if only they had some funding.
Since the list is contantly changing, we will review the projects the week after the Con ends, when we have tallied up the Book Swap and any other donations. When selecting which project to fund, we will try to find a school in the north Texas area that is doing something like building a classroom library of fiction books, setting up ‘take-home literacy bags’, or purchasing binding supplies to make books they created in a writing class. We will also give first consideration to projects involving lower-income or learning-challenged students.
So bring those books for the Book Swap! We’d prefer science fiction, fantasy, horror, and mystery books, but if you think someone might actually be interested in a title then bring it along!
We may also host a Charity Auction if we have any nice items for it (hey look - a HINT). Last year, we were able to sell some one-of-a-kind drawings generated during the Artist Challenge that added $200 to our charity total!”
